Blue night stand

Ok like I said, I live in a log home so there is a lot of WOOD in my house, I need some color!!

I bought this at  auction.  I really liked the look of this stand and could not wait to get my hands dirty with this one.  It was in real good shape, I just needed to work on the one corner of the top.

Couple coats of paint and some poly and he has a new place to call home in my guest bedroom.

Headboard Makeover

I forgot to get a before picture of the headboard but I did find this picture of the bed.  This headboard is from an old waterbed I had, the waterbed is long gone but for some reason I kept this headboard.  It was a queen headboard and this is just a double bed so the first thing I did was disassemble the posts from the headboard and cut 3 inches off each side, I really should have cut 6 but I didn't want to make that kind of change to the headboard,  I knew I could work with 3.

Next I put a coat of primer on it and 2 coats of paint.  I then glazed it, I love to glaze.  Ok I put bed risers on this bed so I had to bump up the headboard also.

I took a 4 by 4 and added it to be bottom of the headboard.  Like I said the headboard is about 6 inches too wide so I had to put a spacer on to make up for it.  I am sure I can work with this.

Not only did I add to the bottom of the headboard but I had to put in a 2 x 8 spacer so the pillows would not fall through the back once I had the bed all make up.

Starting to take shape.

Looking good to me.

I really like how it turned out.  This room ended up getting a complete makeover.

Just a Fish

I have had this wooden fish for years, It has been in a old antique fishing net hung on the wall till now.  I wanted it to stand up on its own.  I found this piece of scrap wood and took my hot glue gun and glued it to the back.

Ok done, now get him on the shelf.

This is where he use to hang,  see just the white belly in that net?  There was not much of him showing at all, I almost didn't use him but now he has a new spot to call home.
(This is actually a "before" picture of the entire room makeover)

Isn't he handsome?  Thanks to that small block of wood, he stands up on his own.

His new home!

Piano Bench

I just fell in love with this bench.  I love the texture of the legs.  I was going to paint them but my Husband Rick talked me into leaving them alone.  I was so excited when I found this at Goodwill.

Just needed a little TLC.

My plan for this little jewel it to sit right here at the end of the bed in our spare room.
Now time for a small makeover.
Notice the gray fur on the upper left side of picture, that would be Annie, our cat, wondering what is going on, why all the hoopla over a piano bench.

The seat needed a little attention in this one corner.

Nothing a little wood filler couldn't handle.

I sanded it smooth, ready to move on.

I took off the lid, primed the inside of the bench as well as the both sides of the lid.

I think this cleaned up the look of the inside of the bench.

Just a little face lift.

Not bad, a nice place to sit a spell.  I may glaze the top someday when I get more time.

Just a box

I bought this box to keep extra TP in but I didn't like how the handle just hung all out of place.

I took a glue gun and glued it down, the first inch of the handle then I glued these buttons on it to give it a little something.

There it is in my main floor bathroom, this is still a work in progress, will post more on that later.
